The 12 Brand Archetypes
A Framework of Feeling

The brands that create lasting affinity are the ones that resonate emotionally– because they feel familiar, relatable, and deeply human.

Swiss psychologist Carl Jung observed that we’re drawn to certain personalities—not by chance, but through deep emotional alignment. We recognize, react, respond and return to the traits, stories, and intentions that mirror our own.

That’s the value of the archetypal approach. They don’t just attract—they clarify, differentiate, and humanize ideas.  Ready to discover which one aligns with your brand? Here’s a look at the original twelve.

How to Identify Your
Brand Archetype

Choosing your brand’s archetype takes reflection and strategic thinking. Here are three tips to guide your process

  • Clarify Your Purpose & Outlook on Life – Consider why your business exists beyond making money. What transformation do you offer? What impact do you want to have?
  • Understand Your Audience’s Desires – Identify the emotional needs and beliefs your ideal customers hold. Which archetype naturally aligns with their worldview?
  • Audit Your Current Perception – Look at how your brand is currently perceived. Does it feel aligned? Or is there a gap between who you are and what’s being communicated?

The Takeaway:

A well-defined archetype is more than a profile—it’s a business positioning and innovation tool for shaping the perception that attracts your ideal audience. When thoughtfully applied, it unlocks emotional alignment that builds credibility and trust.

But an archetype isn’t an isolated fix. It works in tandem with a larger brand strategy to inspire the loyalty and retention that drives success.
